Woman held for killing 2 minor daughters with paramour’s help

A 40-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly killing her two minor daughters with the help of her paramour on Saturday. The paramour is absconding. The duo was booked on charges of murder and causing disappearance of evidence.

The accused were identified as Pooja, a resident of Narwana in Haryana, and Ajay of Sunam. In her complaint, girls’ aunt Gindro, said her brother had died one and-a-half month ago and her sister-in-law-Pooja developed illicit relations with Ajay.

The deceased were identified as Rekha, 10, Seema, 8, who were staying with their mother in Sunam. “On May 1, Ajay and Pooja were seen going towards Sunam railway station with the two girls at 7 am. Later, they murdered the girls and dumped their bodies in Lehra canal” she added.

The bodies of the victims were recovered from Alisher village of Sangrur and Boha town of Mansa on May 2.

“Pooja wanted to marry Ajay. She plotted the murder of her daughters to get rid of them. The raids are being conducted to nab her paramour,” said Lehra police station in-charge Gurnam Singh.

The accused have been booked under sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC at Lehra police station.
