Delay Hampi Express, more than 200 NEET aspirants to miss the exam

BENGALURU: Minimum 200 NEET aspirants from Ballari, Koppal and other north Karnataka district missed to take up NEET exam on Sunday, as the Hampi Express they boarded got delayed. Around 1.15 pm, the train was still in Tumakuru, and the train is expected to reach Bengaluru by 2.30 pm.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is conducted across the country on Sunday expect for Odisha. The exam is the gateway for entering under graduate medical, dental courses. Though the exam is between 2 pm to 5 pm, entering the exam hal is barred post 1.30 pm.
Sai Srinivas, a student from Ballari, stuck in delayed train who realized that he would miss the test had tweeted on Sunday around 11 am. “Sir, we the students who are appearing for NEET 2019 from Ballari and Hubballi cities to Bengaluru train number 16591 name Hampi Express. Thss train has to reach Bengaluru city by 7 am, still we are in Arasikere, far away from Bengaluru,” read the tweet addressed to union minister for Human Resources and Development Prakash Javadekar.
Speaking to TOI, Sai Srinivas a student from Ballari said that he was disappointed as the train got delayed. “The train was scheduled to depart from Ballari at 11 pm on Saturday, but it arrived at the station only around 2 pm. They are no less than 200 students who chose Bengaluru as exam centre and took this train. The train should ideally reach Bengaluru at 7 am. We thought we would reach Bengaluru well in advance, but the delay in train was at the cost of missing NEET exam.
Former chief minister Siddaramaiah also tweeted and raised his concerns towards the NEET aspirants who would miss the exam. He tweeted saying, “ensure that the aggrieved students get another chance to write NEET exam.”
