Hero homeowner takes on two burglars with a golf club and detains one of them for the police - before the other is arrested at a nearby hotel

  • The 21-year-old resident confronted the men and hit one of them with a golf club
  • He then detained the burglar until police arrived, while the second man fled
  • The 59-year-old man was arrested at a nearby hotel later that morning

Two would-be robbers had their home invasion thwarted by a quick-thinking resident brandishing a golf club. 

At around 1am on Sunday, two men allegedly smashed a window and tried to break into a man's home in Koorawatha in New South Wales.

The 21-year-old homeowner then confronted the men with a golf club and hit one of the intruders over the head - leaving him with serious facial injuries.

The man then managed to restrain the injured robber while police and paramedics arrived.

The 42-year-old intruder was taken to Cowra Hospital, but was later airlifted to a Sydney hospital in a serious but stable condition. 

The man's 59-year-old accomplice fled the scene but was arrested later at a nearby hotel that morning. 

He's been charged and will face court today.

It's unclear whether the home owner will be charged by police, and it's not known if he knew the men that broke into his home.
