The owner of the truck that was hit said the suspect fled the scene.

So she followed the car with another witness behind her.

Both vehicles followed the suspect into a subdivision.

That's when the suspect hit another vehicle, this time it was a parked limo.

At this point the driver got out of his vehicle and tried to flee on foot.

But those witnesses stopped him as police arrived.

The women initially hit had to go to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Early friday morning , medford police got a disturbance call just after 4:30.

When they got to the room, no one answered the door so police forced entry.

That's where they found 23-year- old homicide victim, sierra clemens.

A police k-9 helped track down the male suspect down the street from the tiki lodge, after getting a search warrant, oregon state forensics did an investigation of the room.

"it is a little scary, you have to be careful.

You just have to be alert all the time.

There are children who play along here too so it's a little scary for the children."

The jackson county medical examiner was on scene as well as several detectives.

Police are still investigating the exact cause of the death 23 year old cheney chainy hardt learned he will spend the rest of his life under psychiatric review.

He pleaded guilty to murder, but for insanity.

This sentence is not common in oregon's legal system.

Eve says, "very unusual, i think i've had in my career probably 4 that i remember, and this would be the fifth and i've been practicing for 21 years."

Last may's gruesome attack left hardt's mother dead and his father in the hospital.

Costello tells me both the defense expert and the county's expert found hardt to be mentally ill both during parts of his life and the attack.

Hardt will be committed to the psychiatric security review board for life.

Costello says the standard to declare someone 'legally insane' is very high and it doesn't happen often.

It's highly unlikely he'll ever leave.

If anything - costello says there's a chance he could be moved to a less strin-gent facility.

The district attorney's office says he sexually abuse three girls over a period of years.

Lopez faces a minimum sentence of 25 years for each of the two sodomy counts.

And an additional six years each sexual abuse count.

He'll learn his exact sentencing later.

Daniel mull also went to trial in klamath county court this week.

In june of 2017-- police say he shot at a house with four people in it after arguing with his girlfriend.

A jury found him guilty of several gun charges, theft on reckless endangerment.

They found him not guilty on attempted murder.

His sentencing is scheduled for may 14th.

Highs will climb into the 80s in our westside valleys with highs in the 70s east of the cascades.

The coast will be cooler with highs generally in the 60s.

Some pop-up clouds are possible across northern california.

A small craft advisory remains in effect for coastal waters until 5 seas will climb to 7-10 feet.

A hazardous seas warning has been issued for coastal waters from 11 am today until 5 pm saturday for very steep and hazardous seas.

Recreational boaters should remain in port, or take shelter until waves subside.

Following up on the fireworks orindance in medford.

Medford city council approved new firework rules.

Using illegal fireworks is now a 25-hundred dollar fine.

It used to be 250 dollars.

The time period to use fireworks was also reduced from a 14 day span.

You can now only set them off between july first and july ....since rumored sightings have happened in the area.

Organizers began setting up for the fesitval on friday.

The chamber says having a festival in may will serve as the kick off for the summer tourism season.

Tina says: "this will put us on the map in terms of being one of the greatest music venues in southern oregon.

We will definitely be competing with some of the big ones a little further south from us.

This is going to be an annual event.

But also we're using this as a dry run or trial run for some summer concerts we'd like to have in this exact spot."

Camping is allowed if you'd like to stay the entire weekend.

The festival itself is free but parking is five dollars.

If you'd like to sample any of the wine available you'll also have to pay a fee.

A litt currently averages four-dollars and nine-cents per gallon.
