DC vs RR: Trent Boult drops a catch to deny Amit Mishra fourth IPL hat-trick, Twitter erupts
Amit Mishra was on the verge of his fourth IPL hat-trick as he dismissed Shreyas Gopal and Stuart Binny off successive deliveries in the 12th over of the RR innings.
cricket Updated: May 04, 2019 17:49 ISTTrent Boult denied teammate Amit Mishra a well-deserved hat-trick after the New Zealand pacer dropped a catch during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday.
Mishra was on the verge of his fourth IPL hat-trick as he dismissed Shreyas Gopal and Stuart Binny off successive deliveries in the 12th over of the RR innings.
The leg-spinner then produced a top-edge off K Gowtham’s bat and Mishra seemed confident that the catch will be taken at mid-on after Boult called for it early. But to his astonishment, Boult failed to judge the trajectory of the falling ball and let it go in between his hands.
Mishra couldn’t believe his luck and was pictured holding his head. Social media users took note of the incident and lashed out at Boult for making a mess of the catch.
KG top-edges the ball and Boult drops it!#HallaBol #DCvRR #RR

FEEL FOR MISHRA#IPL2019#DCvRR
For someone who is such a spectacular outfield catcher as Boult, stunning to watch how badly he botched that skier on the hat-trick ball for Mishra.

Had Boult taken this catch, Mishra would have extended his lead at the top in list of most hat-tricks in the IPL. The leg-spinner has scalped three hat-tricks, which is the most by any bowler in the history of the tournament.
Mishra picked up his first hat-trick against Deccan Chargers in the inaugural edition of the IPL. His second and third hat-tricks came against Kings XI Punjab and Pune Warriors in 2011 and 2013 respectively.Yuvraj Singh takes the second spot in the list with two hat-tricks in the 2009 edition of the league.
