Boy jumps in Sukhna Lake after failing CBSE 12th exams
Hailing from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, he was staying with his maternal uncles in Sector 20, and taking IELTS coaching from a Sector 17 centre. On Friday afternoon, while patrolling along the Sukhna lake’s perimeter, cops posted at the lake spotted the boy’s body floating in the water.

Police said the boy, Manav Anil Sharma, had appeared in the exams from a Pathankot school. He was living in Chandigarh currently to prepare for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam.
Hailing from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, he was staying with his maternal uncles in Sector 20, and taking IELTS coaching from a Sector 17 centre.
His uncles told the police that Manav went missing after he found out that he had failed in Class 12. They had also filed a missing person’s report with the police on Thursday night.
On Friday afternoon, while patrolling along the Sukhna lake’s perimeter, cops posted at the lake spotted the boy’s body floating in the water.
They recovered the body and sent it to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16. After identifying him, the cops informed his uncles. The autopsy will be conducted on Saturday, after his parents reach the city from Kangra.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code at the Sector 3 police station.
Last year, Karanvir Singh, an 18-year-old boy from Phase 6, Mohali, had hung himself from a ceiling fan after appearing in the Class 12 physics exam on March 7, 2018.
