Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said that the ones who criticised the Delhi government’s education policy and had claimed that overhauling the infrastructure of schools would not bring results, but the CBSE Class XII results have silenced them as the government schools have outperformed all other State government schools.
“A total of 209 heads of schools were sent on educational trips to Cambridge or Finland and almost all of them have attended leadership trainings at IIMs. Such orientation enabled them to take ownership and leadership in their own domains and their job was no longer just a government job,” Mr. Sisodia said.
He added that parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) and the mega PTM enabled the teachers to reach out to parents and update them about the progress of their children.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that the strict attendance rules for every subject and support lent to schools that were not bringing out desired results were also factors that went into getting better results.
In a first-time exercise, Mr. Sisodia said, 200 answer sheets of each subject of students who scored very low marks last year were obtained from the CBSE and low-scoring areas were analysed. Following that, inputs were given to teachers to focus on those specific areas so that none of the students lagged behind.
Out of 897 Delhi government schools, the Minister said, 203 schools achieved 100% result against 168 last year and 732 schools achieved 90% and above against 638 schools last year.
“Result of Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalayas is 99.92%, which is more than that of Delhi KVs [99.4%] and this is a remarkable achievement,” Mr. Sisodia further said.
