Death threats to education group chief over ban order

President of the Muslim Educational Society (MES) has received death threats after he banned face-covering attires in educational institutions run by the society. Gafoor told TOI that he received several calls from Gulf countries and from many cities in India threatening him if he did not withdraw the circular banning the niqab.

"I got more than 10 calls from the Gulf and the tone of all of them were intimidating. Today I got calls from Kerala too. I have filed a complaint," he said.
He filed another complaint with police against a fake Facebook account created in his name. "The account is posting material that is very provocative," he said.
