OnePlus is slated to lift the curtains off the OnePlus 7 series smartphones on May 14th in India, along with other markets including the US and Europe. This year, the vendor is likely to launch two smartphones, dubbed as OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. Thanks to the rumour mill, we already know an awful number of details about the handsets, including its specifications and likely global prices. Now, ahead of their release, market research firm techARC has estimated the OnePlus 7 price in India, based on past trends.
As per techARC, the OnePlus 7 will come with a starting price of Rs 39,500, which is 12.6 percent more than the last year flagship the OnePlus 6. The market research firm further states that the hike has been consistent with OnePlus over the past few years. To recall, the OnePlus 6 was launched at Rs 34,999 for its base 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while the OnePlus 6T (review) at Rs 37,999 for its entry-level 6GB + 128GB variant.
“OnePlus has adopted a consistent pricing strategy where it has been increasing the price with every new launch in a regular pattern,” techARC Chief Analyst Faisal Kawoosa said in a statement. “This has led the brand to achieve growth in revenues as well as profitability with consumers getting a better experience at an incremental price increase.”
Apart from OnePlus, the market research firm also analysed the flagships of Samsung, Google, and Apple. It observed that Samsung increases the prices of its next-gen Galaxy S series by just 8 percent, while iPhones get a 20 percent hike. Google Pixel, on the other hand, has seen an 11.7 percent jump in prices with every new addition to the flagship smartphones.
OnePlus 7 specifications (expected)
Alleged renders have revealed that the OnePlus 7 will have same form factor as the OnePlus 6T. The handset is expected to sport a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with full-HD+ resolution and a waterdrop-style notch. The screen will also bear a fingerprint scanner underneath. The handset will be driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC paired with 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB storage configurations. In optics, the OnePlus 7 is tipped to flaunt a 48-megapixel (f/1.7) + 5-megapixel depth sensor setup at the back. A 3,700mAh battery with 20W fast charging could fuel the device.
