Cape Town - The Absa Premiership's top goal-scorer Mwape Musonda netted for the 16th time this season but his team, Black Leopards had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Amazulu at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.
The result sees Leopards dropping into the relegation playoff position with one game of the season remaining.
Musonda struck from penalty spot as Lidoda Duvha took the lead 20 minutes time but Sibusiso Mabiliso saw his long-range deflect into the back of the net in the 82nd minute as the hosts earned a share of the spoils.
The game started slowly with the opportunity coming after 20 minutes when Usuthu's Marc Van Heerden's free-kick was saved by visiting keeper King Ndlovu.
Khomotso Masia had a big chance to Leopards ahead but he was foiled but the Amazulu shot-stopper Siyabonga Mbatha.
Leopards started the second half with more purpose and in the 69th minute were given a penalty when Lefa Hlongwane was brought down in the box and Musonda calmly slotted home to almost guarantee that he will win the Golden Boot at the end of the season.
Amazulu though never gave up and Mabiliso struck a fierce long-range effort that took a wicked deflection to that meant Ndlovu could get nowhere near it.
Both teams pressed for the winner but the points were shared in the KZN province.
