Attack occurred at HRBR Layout

Two bike-borne men opened fired at a 46-year-old realtor at HRBR Layout before fleeing on Friday night.

“The assailants fired four rounds at Syed Zuber. He is recovering at Bowring Hospital,” said a senior police officer, adding that a special team has been formed to nab the accused.

According to the police, Zuber, a resident of Lingarajpura, is a realtor and also owns a construction firm. The incident took place around 9.45 p.m. while he was talking to his lawyer Faizal about a case. They were standing outside a bakery when two men on a bike approached them. The pillion rider opened four rounds at Zuber before speeding away.

“Zuber took two shots in his stomach, and underwent surgery,” said the police.

In his statement, Faizal said that the accused had covered their faces and he did not realise that they were firing at Zuber. “He told us that he first thought that the tyre of a vehicle had burst,” said the police.

When he saw Zuber collapse on the road, bleeding profusely, he called for help.

Passers-by rushed Zuber to a nearby private hospital. Later, he was shifted to Bowring.

Police are examining CCTV footage from in and around the area to identify the assailants.
