HC imposes Rs 5k cost on VIDC

Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Friday imposed Rs 5,000 cost on VIDC for not satisfactorily answering queries posed to it. The court was hearing a PIL by social worker Krishna Kumar Agrawal through counsel Shreerang Bhandarkar challenging sand ghats’ auction in districts like Gondia, Bhandara, Wardha, Gadchiroli, besides Nagpur.
Terming the move as illegal, the petitioner prayed for quashing and setting aside the tender notices issued for auctioning sand ghat at these places. tnn
