20 cartons of hooch seized
Division 7 police arrested Dharminder Kumar of Shimlapuri, and Lakhvir Singh of Nirmal Palace area near Vardhman Chowk, when they were going in an autorickshaw with 20 cartons of illicit liquor. A case has been registered against them.
7 booked for attempt to murder
Complainant Gurpreet Singh of Kuliyewal village said that on Wednesday, he had gone to his relative’s house in Dholewal, where his neighbour Sher Singh sustained injuries after having a quarrel with some of his acquaintances. When Gurpreet intervened and rushed the injured Sher Singh to hospital, the accused Sandeep Singh, Gopi, Nikka, Jagtar Singh, Manpreet Singh, Happy, and Hardeep Singh, along with an unidentified accomplice attacked him near Millar Gunj with sharp-edged weapons, in which he sustained severe injuries. Division 6 police have registered a case.
Doctor booked in road mishap
On the complaint of Nirmala Devi of Mundiya Kalan, Focal Point police booked Dr Sukhjeet Kaur of Sector 32, Chandigarh Road, for causing death by negligence. The complainant said the accused hit her husband Nanad Lal with her car near Gol Market, when he was passing through the area on his bicycle. Her husband later died while undergoing treatment in hospital, following which an FIR was lodged.
