Vadodara: A 13-year-old girl committed suicide at her home in Maneja on Saturday morning as she did not get expected result in her class VII examination.
The girl, identified as Sneha Chauhan, received her class VII result on Saturday morning in which she had secured B grade. After returning from the school, she seemed to be disturbed. Around 11.30am, when Chauhan and her younger sister were alone at home, she wrote an apology to her father in her notebook for her result and the extreme step that she had decided to take.
After writing the note, she tied herself to a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms in the house and ended her life. Chauhan’s two-year-old sister was in another room when she ended her life. “She was upset that she did not secure A grade. She wrote that she did not have the right to live as she had secured B grade instead of A,” said a police official.
When some children from the neighbourhood went to Chauhan’s house they found her hanging from the ceiling fan. They later alerted their guardians, who informed Chauhan’s parents. Police said that Chauhan’s parents were away at work when she ended her life. In their statement, Chauhan’s parents told police that they had never pressurized her for studies and even after knowing her result on Saturday morning, they did not scold or say anything to her.
