Three, including cyclist, killed and three injured in road accidents

On Friday night around 8pm, a 49-year-old businessman died after a head-on collision with a truck at the Kapdiwas Crossing on National Highway-8. The police said the victim Praveen Kumar was driving a Maruti Omni car while returning from Delhi, when a speeding truck driver crashed into his car. The victim, who hails from Alwar, was rushed to a private hospital in Pataudi but died during the course of treatment.
Shamsher Singh, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), said the truck driver fled from the spot but was identified on Saturday morning from CCTV footage. A case was registered against the accused under sections 279, 337, and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Bilaspur police station on Friday night, said the police.
In another incident, a 28-year-old driver of a truck was killed after he was allegedly hit by another speeding truck from behind near the NSG campus in Manesar at 2 am on Saturday.
The accident took place when the driver, Mahinder Kumar, was on his way to Manesar. Due to the impact, his truck hit the road divider, entered the other side of the road and hit a third truck coming from the opposite direction from Jaipur. The police said Kumar died on the spot. Ajit Kumar, who was allegedly driving the speeding truck, tried to flee from the spot but was caught by the police. A cyclist, who was passing by, also got hit by one of the trucks and was declared brought dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. The driver of the third truck and at least two pedestrians also sustained injuries and were hospitalised.
A case was registered under sections 279, 336, 427 and 304-A of the IPC at the Manesar police station on Saturday. The accident also led to a traffic snarl on the highway for an hour, said police. The police said they suspect that the accused in both cases were inebriated.
