Two men booked for forgery

Vadodara: Two men were booked on Friday for forging registration number of an SUV car in which they were transporting the Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in March. The accused, identified as Nitin Thakkar and Satish Vasava, were nabbed near Sayaji Township by Bapod police along with liquor stock worth Rs 54,000. Police said that the car had a registration plate of Gandhinagar, but were not carrying any relevant documents of the car. Thakkar told police that the car belongs to him.
When cops checked the car, they also found a number plate with Haryana’s Panipat registration. However, both accused said they did not know about the registration plate. Cops booked Thakkar and Vasava Under Prohibition Act. But when they checked with the regional transport office in Gandhinagar about the registration number of the seized car, the police learnt that the registration number is of a multi-utility vehicle owned by GEB Colony resident in Gandhinagar. “After learning about the fake number plate from Gandhinagar RTO, we registered another offence, of forgery, against the duo,” said a police official.tnn
