Meanwhile, ANI has reported that the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Goa president, Ahraz Mulla has written a letter to the President, Prime Minister and Union HRD ministry -- requesting them to postpone NEET exam, in view of difficulties faced by students due to cyclone ‘Fani’ in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Cyclone Fani, one of the biggest storms to come off the Indian Ocean in recent years, made landfall in Odisha’s Puri on Friday, India’s Meteorological Department said. Over 10 people have reportedly died due to Fani. However, there is no official confirmation of the numbers.
More than 1 million people were evacuated from vulnerable districts in last 24 hours. On Thursday, the Odisha government conveyed to the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), the country’s top body for handling emergency situations, that 10,000 villages and 52 towns in nine districts will be affected due to Cyclone Fani , a home ministry statement said after a meeting of the NCMC, which was headed by cabinet secretary PK Sinha.
The agency has also issued a list where students can know which new Centre has been allotted to them. The NEET 2019 examination is scheduled to be held on May 5.
NTA said that the concerned candidates have already been informed about this and advised to download their fresh e-Admit card available on NTA website at www.ntaneet.nic.in.
