A 22-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter were found dead at their rented house near Mankavu in Kozhikode on Thursday evening.

The victims were identified as Roopali and Aradhya, hailing from Odisha. The police said the two died of severe burn injuries. They confirmed it to be a case of suicide on the basis of circumstantial evidence.

The incident was first reported to the police by Roopali’s husband. The Kasaba police have registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to probe the incident.

Husband’s role

They said the role of the husband would be investigated. He was earlier married to another woman, they said.
