Two held for posting defamatory report on CM

Bengaluru: Two persons were arrested on Thursday on charges of posting a defamatory report about chief minister HD Kumaraswamy online.
Gangadhar Ammalajeri, 30, editor-cum-owner of Uksuddi.in, and Ajit Shetty Heranje, 37, were picked up from their residences in the city late Thursday night and arrested after they confessed to the crime, said police.
A resident of Vijayanagar and from Rabakavi in Bagalkot, prime accused Gangadhar Ammalajeri allegedly published a false report that CM Kumaraswamy and Radhika had visited a private resort in Udupi and threw tantrums at the media for capturing their pictures. Ammalajeri also uploaded edited pictures showing Kumaraswamy and Radhika standing together.

The second accused, Shetty Heranje, a businessman from JC Nagar, allegedly shared the post on Facebook and tagged others.
The chief minister’s media secretary HB Dinesh filed a complaint against the duo. In his statement, the complainant said the news of Kumaraswamy’s two-day visit to a nature cure centre at Kapu in Udupi district was published on Uksuddi.in under the headline, “CM Kumaraswamy arrives at Udupi resort with Radhika”.
