Missing Rs 6.65cr: ASIs’ aide was aware of ‘looted’ cash

PATIALA: The ongoing investigations into the missing Rs 6.65 crore have revealed that head constable Amrik Singh, one of the aides of the two ASIs from whose possession Rs 30 lakh was recovered by Patiala police, was aware of the source of the cash.
A senior official in the state police said Amrik Singh, a resident of Danewal village under Jhuner police station in Mansa district, who happens to be a paternal uncle of ASI Rajpreet’s wife, was in constant touch with the two ASIs Joginder Singh and Rajpreet Singh when they were on the run.

He also knew that the two had syphoned off a part of the cash recovered from the Pratappura house of Father Anthony, the official said.
Meanwhile, the SIT on Friday produced all the accused, including the two ASIs, before Mohali court which remanded them in 5-day police custody. The police investigators maintained that during interrogation they will be extract details to piece together the entire planning and plotting and how the crime was executed.
