Track maintenance to hit suburban services

42 EMU services cancelled to facilitate work

The Southern Railway has cancelled a total of 42 suburban train services on the Tiruvallur-Arakkonam section in order to take up track maintenance work on Sunday. The electrical multiple unit (EMU) services will not be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Railway Department, in a press release, said due to track maintenance works to be taken up between Moore Market Complex (MMC) and Villivakkam, 24 EMU services from MMC and Chennai Beach towards Avadi, Tiruvallur, Tiruttani, and Arakkonam, are cancelled.

Similarly 18 EMUs in the return direction are cancelled.

Special services

The Railways, in order to minimise inconvenience to the passengers, will be running eight passenger special services from MMC to Arakkonam at 9.45 a.m., Arakkonam to Tiruttani specials (8.50 a.m., 11.55 a.m., 1.50 p.m. and 2.25 p.m.), Tiruvallur to MMC at 1.15 p.m. and Avadi to Pattabiram siding at 1.50 p.m.

The MMC-Tiruttani train has been partially cancelled between MMC and Avadi and will instead run from Avadi to Tiruttani at 3 p.m.

Diversions

Also the Arakkonam-MMC service (Train No. 66008) scheduled to leave at 10.50 a.m. will be diverted on the fast line between Pattabiram and MMC stations.

The diversion will result in no stoppage at Pattabiram, Hindu College, Annanur, Thirumullaivoyal, Ambattur, Pattaravakkam, Korattur, Perambur Carriage Works and Vyasarpadi Jeeva stations.
