Every summer vacation, hundreds of children enrol themselves for various camps to hone their skills.
To keep the children hooked on various activities as well as make them learn new skills, organisers of summer camps are now introducing unique activities such as baking, cookery, magic shows, crafts and much more. Many courses are designed for children in the age group four to 10 years.
‘Munch a treat’
The summer camp titled ‘Munch a treat’ is introducing kids to the world of baking. Meenakshi who signed her five-year-old daughter for the classes found the course very different. “I was searching for summer camps and came across this unique workshop as children got to learn the art of bakery,” she said.
To make a difference, students of Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan have taken up the initiative for training the underprivileged children from slum areas. The summer camp is being organised in the school, with a combination of activities such as teaching slokas, aerobics, crafts and much more.
“We are happy to be here to learn something useful and we thank the school for providing us this opportunity. Given a chance, we will come here again,” R. Vasantha and D. Maria, participants at the camp said.
Children are being trained to work on their communication skills,” Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan Director Vasu Prakash said.
Activities such as ball and splash pool, magic show, painting, nail art, cookery, thread jewellery and etc are being conducted by the ISKCON’s Divine Touch School and Olive Tree Montessori House for Children.
Discipline matters
“Children are being taught to inculcate discipline. It is all about learning while having fun,” the organisers said.
