Two teens killed in separate crashes on rural Victorian roads

Victoria's road toll has climbed to 110 after two teenagers were killed in separate accidents on rural highways on Saturday morning.

An 18-year-old Wonthaggi man lost control of his Ford utility around 7.40am along the Bass Highway in Anderson, 100 kilometres south-east of Melbourne, veering across the road and smashing into a truck.

The passenger of the car, a 16-year-old boy from Wonthaggi, died at the scene.

The 18-year-old has been airlifted to The Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

The truck driver had no obvious injuries but was transported to Wonthaggi Hospital in a stable condition.

The Bass Highway remains closed in both directions.

Locals described the scene on social media as "horrendous" and "a very sad sight".

Earlier in the morning, two motorcycles crashed near Shepparton, killing one man.

The bikes collided along Coach Road, near the Midland Highway in Shepparton, just after 12.30am.

One motorcyclist, a 19-year-old male from Shepparton, died at the scene.

The teenage rider of the second motorbike was seriously injured but remains in hospital in a non-life threatening condition.

The Major Collision Investigation Unit is investigating.

Coach Road is currently closed southbound between the Midland Highway and Channel Road.

Victoria's road toll now sits at 110, 43 higher than at this time last year.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the Shepparton incident, has dashcam footage or may have seen the two bikes prior to the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au
