Two boys drowned in Gajuladinne water project at Nereduppala village in Gonegandla mandal in Kurnool district on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Prakash (10) and Mallikarjuna (10). Both were classmates and were studying Class V in a local government school.
According to the police, the boys started swimming near the walls of the project, but later went into deep waters.
The locals rushed to the spot after hearing the boys scream for help. But by the time they arrived, the children had already drowned. The Gonegandla police have registered a case and the bodies have been shifted to the local government hospital for post-mortem.
