Residents in west eugene are in shock tonight..

After police found two people dead inside a home off of roosevelt boulevard.

Kezi 9 news reporter tyler jones has been following this story all afternoon..

And is in eugene with the latest on these deaths and reaction from neighbors.

Tyler?

Tyler jones says, "chynna, things are calm now at this home on teralee lane.

But earlier this afternoon, witnesses say dozens of police cars were around the home after they got a call about a gunshot wound."

That call came in a little after one o'clock in the afternoon.

When police arrived..

Witnesses say some officers were taking cover behind cars.

John rubio says, "there were at least six or seven police vehicles up and down this street here.

So, yeah, obviously, cause for alarm initially.

I hadn't heard anything before i came out of the home.

Then i saw the yellow tape."

Police entered the home..

And found two bodies inside.

Neighbors that we spoke to..

Say they can't believe this has happened to an older couple..

Who had always been so nice to everyone.

Dwight wiltsey says, "you know how you tell people, yeah, this neighbor, that neighbor is just a great neighbor.

Well, that's a great neighhbor."

Those neighbors also told us that this isn't the first death investigation in this neighborhood.

In 20-15..

Police say they were called out to a home just a few hundred feet away from today's incident..

For a murder- suicide and arson.

But no matter who we talked to..

The conversation always came back to the heartbreak this neighborhood is feeling..

For the sweet couple that lived on the corner.

Wiltsey says, "there wasn't one time that he didn't come by our house, which was about twice or three times a day every day, that he didn't -- if we're out in the yard -- boy, it's wave and honk every time."

Tyler jones says, "the medical examiner's office is still doing their investigation into this incident.
