Investigators arrested a man in connection to her murder.

Our stephanie lin has been following this case since the beginning... and has the latest on this major break in the case.

### a major break in the murder investigation of greta putnam, the 86 year old grandmother killed november 8th in her oroville mobile home.

We got some evidence that led us in the direction of brian madding.

This is the man police now have in custody.

42 year old brian scott madding of oroville.

Officers arrested him thursday.

Standup: the detective tells me officers found the suspect sleeping on the grass in front of this ampla health... just blocks away from the police department.

I am very confident we have the correct person in custody.

Detective stott said information gathered during the investigation led officers to madding.

He does have a criminal record.

We took a look at the butte county court website and found records under madding's name that went as far back as 2010.

Hi stephanie, good.

I reached out to putnam's grandson, who happened to be out of town.

He says he woke up to multiple calls from investigators this morning.

I was a little bit overwhelmed...an d in shock.

Obviously, it totally caught us off guard by the suspect, they caught.

Its totally news to all of us.

Who don't know who this guy is.

Rhodes adds he hopes this is another step towards closure for the family.

As you know, you've interviewed us quite a few times now and we've pointed fingres and tried to guess... still a long road ahead of us, but at least we have a picture.

Madding, meanwhile is being held on one million dollars bail, at the butte county jail.

But this is huge news, and a lot of people supporting us, and are hoping for answers, and this is just awesome news, and get back, and seek justice.
