The district police have charted out a comprehensive bandobust plan for the first phase of rural local body elections in seven mandals of the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected district on Monday.
Most polling stations in the rural local bodies of the Bhadrachalam Agency are considered vulnerable and sensitive due to geographical proximity to strife-torn areas of adjoining Chhattisgarh.
Heavy deployment
As many as 71 MPTCs and seven ZPTCs in seven mandals including Dummugudem and Charla, the two border mandals in the tribal heartland of Bhadrachalam Agency, are scheduled to go to polls on Monday.
The district police have drawn up an elaborate plan envisaging deployment of little over 1,000 police personnel in the seven mandals for the first phase elections, sources said.
Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt discussed security arrangements for Monday’s elections with the police officials concerned at a meeting held in Kothagudem on Friday. He issued a set of instructions to the police officials on providing foolproof security to the polling stations, preventing untoward incidents and ensuring free and fair polls.
Meanwhile, a comprehensive bandobust plan has been devised for the first phase elections to 110 MPTCs and seven ZPTCs in Khammam district.
