Day after Fani: Cyclone-battered Bhubaneswar airport may reopen today

BHUBANESWAR: Airports Authority of India (AAI) is trying to reopen the Bhubaneswar airport -- which has been shut since Thursday midnight and was damaged by Cyclone Fani -- at 1pm on Saturday if the repair work are done.

"The passenger terminal building at Bhubaneswar has been considerably damaged, particularly at the rooftop and facades... Based on the feedback and action taken, it was decided that Bhubaneswar will resume commercial flight operations with effect from 1300 IST on May 4, 2019," a statement released by the ministry of civil aviation said..
The cyclone rolled through Odisha on Friday, packing rain and windstorm that gusted up to 175 kmph.
