Two “Maoist couriers” were apprehended by a police team during a search operation at Lenin Colony in Charla mandal on Friday.

The duo was heading towards the thickly forested area bordering Chhattisgarh to handover a consignment of olive green uniform clothes to the ultras when they were nabbed, police said.

One of them hails from the strife-ridden Bastar region of Chhattisgarh and other reportedly belongs to Charla mandal. The local police heightened vigil across the forest fringe areas near the Maoist strongholds in neighbouring State in view of Monday’s rural local body elections in Charla and Dummugudem tribal sub-plan mandals in Telangana’s Bhadrachalam Agency.
