Grain markets in Punjab choking as Congress govt fails to procure gunny bags: Harsimrat Badal

BATHINDA: Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has accused the Congress government in Punjab of miserably failing in procuring of gunny bags, which has resulted in grain markets choking with grains. The wheat procurement has suffered due to glut, causing miseries to farmers, she added.

"Chief minister Amarinder Singh is responsible for the hardships being faced by the farming community. The government should tell farmers why it failed to procure gunny bags in advance. It is condemnable that the government is still not paying attention to this problem", she said.
She further added that the CM made only one visit to a grain market while he was enroute to a political function more than one week ago while farmers are suffering immensely. She urged the chief minister to make arrangements for gunny bags on an urgent basis.
