Miscreants shoot at cashier in Jaipur, loot Rs 45 lakh

JAIPUR: A 30-year-old cashier of a private company was injured after unidentified gunmen shot at him near Mansarovar before robbing him of cash worth Rs 45 lakh on Saturday night. The incident happened even as the city was on high alert ahead of elections.

The victim, Naresh Saini is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mansarovar. The brazen robbery took place near Shiv Colony area when at 9pm, Saini was heading out with his friend with two bags full of cash. “Four miscreants on two bikes came closer and shot at him. Saini fell and was taken to the hospital. They snatched his bag and fled from the spot,” said an official. Pandemonium erupted as gunshots stirred panic in Mansarovar locality.
The city police control alerted Mansarovar police station. All nearby police stations including Shipra Path and Muhana were put on high alert even as the officials directed cops to set-up nakas (check points) on all major highways.
