Medical student kills self

VADODARA: A third-year surgery student at Baroda Medical College was found hanging in her room at the hostel late on Tuesday night.
Rachana Desai (27) committed suicide as she had failed in an exam and was also going through a rough phase after a failed relationship. Desai, a native of Mehsana, had left behind a suicide note in which she had stated the reasons for taking the extreme step.
Police said that Desai's friends found her hanging in her room when they went to call her on Tuesday late evening. When she did not open the door, her friends checked through the window only to find her hanging to the ceiling fan. Later, the college officials and police were informed about the incident.
During investigation, cops had found the suicide note. "She was shocked by the exam result, she wrote in the letter, as she was good at studies," the police official said.
He added that she was in a romantic relationship with a fellow student. The letter and mobile phone have been sent for forensic tests.
