Maharashtra: Drunk state transport driver transporting EVMs arrested

MUMBAI: A state transport bus driver, Yogesh Gawari (38), was arrested on Wednesday for reckless driving under the influence of liquor. He was transporting EVMs to the counting centre in Jawahar taluka of Palghar district. When the bus neared Khodala ghat, a cop on escort duty in the bus found that Gawari was driving recklessly. He asked Gawari to halt the bus and sent him for a medical test, which confirmed that he was drunk.
The Mokhada police booked Gawari under IPC Section 279 (rash driving), Section 85(1)(2) of the Bombay Prohibition Act, and Section 134 of the Representation of People Act,1951.
