CHENNAI: More than 31,178 students from nearly 60 schools in Tamil Nadu took joyrides in metro trains here in the 2018-19 academic year.
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has been taking students from government and corporation schools on free educational rides every month to raise awareness on the modern transit facility.
Students are taken from Central Metro to Airport, AG-DMS to Airport and Washermenpet to Airport.

They are shown and explained the various features of the metro trains and stations in both elevated and underground sections.
Students from various government and corporation schools from districts like Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Sivaganga took these education trips in the last academic year.
