Goa may see light rain this weekend

IMD has said that cyclone Fani in the Bay of Bengal will not affect Goa
PANAJI: The severe cyclone storm ‘Fani’ predicted over the Bay of Bengal, could result in states along India’s eastern coastline witnessing heavy rainfall accompanied by high-speed winds. Goa, however, will not be affected by the phenomenon, experts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa said.
“The cyclone, which is in the Bay of Bengal, may affect the cost of Andhra, Odisha and part of Bengal. However, the west coast won’t be affected,” IMD Goa scientist SD Sanap said.
The state, however, will witness light rain towards the end of this week. “We are expecting some light rainfall in parts of Goa on Friday and Saturday, but there may not be any thunderstorms,” Sanap said.

As of Wednesday, there was no drastic change in maximum or minimum temperature. IMD Goa recorded the highest maximum temperature of 34°C. Sanap further said that wind speed will be normal and fishermen can continue to venture into the sea.
TOI had earlier reported that light rain and moderate thundershowers occurred in parts of the state on April 27. A trough extending from Madhya Pradesh to the South of Konkan was attributed as the reason.
