JAIPUR: The district administration on Wednesday announced that all schools in the city have to wind up classes by 12 noon from Thursday onwards. The decision is taken to give relief to the students as the mercury level rises in the city.
The order is applicable on both government and private schools and they have to conclude their classes by afternoon. Collector of Jaipur, J S Yadav, said that it has been imposed on all the schools for all classes. “Schools can start their classes early in the morning but they have to conclude by 12 noon as the temperature is rising every day and we have to save students who are vulnerable of getting sick.”

Though parents are supporting this decision many schools in the city are been complaining about this sudden decision. A private school principal anonymously said, “These sudden decision is not in favour of students as the syllabus will not be completed on time. The decision came on Wednesday evening and it will take time to communicate this to parents.”
Another school principal said students have been attending schools in all kind of timings but this new trend has made it difficult to complete syllabus before starting of summer vacations on May 10. As per meteorological department, temperature on Thursday was 40 degrees Celsius and till May 10 it will remain between 39 degrees Celsius to 42 degrees Celsius. Last month, there was heatwave in the state. That was probably the first time in this season so far when maximum temperatures at majority places in state were at or above 40 degrees Celsius.
