It didn’t take too long for Marvel’s 22nd film, Avengers: Endgame, to beat its prequel Avengers: Infinity War to take the title of the highest-earning Hollywood venture in India.

In six days, the superhero flick has pocketed as much as Rs 244 crore, beating the grand total of its predecessor at Rs 222.69 crore.

Holding its ground in the Indian market, the last Avenger offering is likely to grab a big total of Rs 400 crore, according to industry estimates. And, it wouldn’t be a tall order for the film as it is maintaining momentum even during weekdays.

In addition, the film sees no competition from any local productions for another week. Karan Johar’s Student of the Year 2 will hit theatres only on May 10, giving Endgame a lot more time to keep cash registers ringing.

With Rs 28 crore on the sixth day of its release, the film’s weekday total so far stands at Rs 84 crore. And, it looks like Endgame will close its first week at Rs 265 crore. While Endgame enjoyed some advantage due to the May Day holiday, it is the film’s content that is drawing people to theatres and is competing with biggest names from the Hindi film industry.

Released in four languages, Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu, the film is raking in big numbers from all versions. During the first weekend, Endgame collected Rs 61 crore in Hindi, Rs 12 crore in Tamil and Telugu and Rs 85 crore in English.

Plus, the IMAX and 3D shows for the first weekend saw 100 percent footfalls, which also elevated the collections in a big way.

Endgame has already broken a few records in India --

It has become the highest Hollywood grosser in India. It is also the highest Hollywood opener in India. And, it is the fastest film to enter the Rs 100-crore club in India.

Avengers: Endgame is all set to challenge Dangal’s business. The Aamir Khan-starrer earned Rs 374 crore in India to become the biggest grosser of all times, when compared with any other Hindi film. And, the competition will begin with films like the Baahubali franchise and Rajinikanth’s 2.0.

Be it Baahubali or 2.0 or Avengers: Endgame, all three films are proof that language is not a barrier for a well-made film. These films are also a testimony to the fact that holidays are not a must for success. Endgame even proved that wide releases, too, do not guarantee box office success.
