He tells Opposition parties to observe restraint in expressing their views

TRS working president K.T. Rama warned Opposition leaders that he would file defamation cases against them if they issued reckless statements linking him to Globarena Technologies Private Limited, the firm that processed the Intermediate exam results.

“They are targeting me just because Globarena earned the contract when I was Information Technology Minister,” Mr. Rao said addressing the May Day celebrations at TRS office on Wednesday. Blaming the Opposition for accusing him for goof-ups in Inter results, Mr. Rao said they made it a burning issue as they had nothing else to point finger at at the government. The Opposition parties made false claims that the contract was worth ₹10,000 crore while it was merely ₹4.30 crore. Mr. Rao advised restraint on part of everyone, including the media, over the issue as it was sensitive since students’ career was at stake. The Opposition could as well highlight some other issues if they wanted to confront Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao politically, he said and appealed to the students and parents to observe calm. He added that he would be the first person to demand the State government to punish those who would be found guilty.

The re-verification and recounting of marks of Inter students would conclude shortly. “Till then, let us all observe restraint.”

On issues concerning workers in the context of May Day, Mr. Rao promised to take up with Chief Minister K. Chandrsekhar Rao the sanction of ration cards to the section.
