Coming from the same family as the popular Impulse 200, the Xpulse bears a striking resemblance to its spiritual predecessor.
Indian motorcycle maker Hero MotoCorp has officially launched the XPulse 200 in India after showcasing it almost two years ago. It is available with either a carburettor or a fuel injector and poses as a dedicated off-roader.
Coming from the same family as the popular Impulse 200, the Xpulse bears a striking resemblance to its spiritual predecessor. It gets specialised off-road equipment like long travel suspension, a 21-inch front wheel, 220 mm ground clearance and wire-spoked wheels. It also gets dual-purpose tyres from Ceat as standard.
The bike is powered by a 200cc air-cooled single cylinder engine which is borrowed from the Hero Xtreme 200R. This engine is also shared by its twin, the XPulse 200T and makes 18.4 PS of maximum power and 17.1 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a five-speed gearbox as standard. However, the XPulse 200 gets a larger rear sprocket to improve initial torque and make it a better off-roader.
Hero MotoCorp has also gone one step ahead to make the XPulse twins India’s first motorcycles to be equipped with Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones. The XPulse also gets turn by turn navigation as it has an all-digital instrument cluster. This function can be accessed via a dedicated Hero Ride Guide app
The XPulse 200 is priced at Rs 97,000 for the carburetted version and Rs 1.05 lakh for fuel injection (all prices ex-showroom). The bike will be pitted against the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan among others.
