The Galaxy A70 is an excellent overall handset.
The Samsung Galaxy A70 handset that launched back in April is now available to Indian audiences on online e-commerce stores and retail outlets. The A70 debuts as a mid-range entry in the Galaxy A series.
The Galaxy A70 boasts a strong mid-tier spec sheet and comes in at Rs 28,990. Consumers are also offered Rs 2,000 cashback on all transactions made by ICICI Bank credit cards. However, figuring out if the A70 is really worth the price, we’ll have to comb through its spec sheet.
Performance
The Galaxy A70 runs on the Snapdragon 675 Octa-core chipset and 6GB of RAM, impressive for any mid-tier smartphone. The phone also features the latest Android 9 Pie with Samsung’s One UI for better power-efficiency and improved performance. Additionally, the A70's 128GB storage is expandable up to 512GB.
Display
The A70 has an incredible Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with a maximum resolution setting of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 6.7-inch screen size. Samsung hardly fails to disappoint when it comes to display technology, and the A70 should be no exception, so prepare for an immersive experience.
Battery
Samsung has been pretty generous in terms of power giving the A70 a massive 4,500 mAh battery capacity coupled with 25W fast charging support with USB Type-C. This means not only do you get enough juice to last an entire day and more, but you can also quickly charge your phone when power runs out.
Camera
The Galaxy A70 boasts a triple rear camera setup that includes a 32-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.2 lens. The primary camera offers excellent low-light photography, while Live Focus allows you to focus on the subject by blurring out the background. Also, Scene Optimizer can recognise up to 20 different scenes to enhance colour accuracy. The tear-drop notch on the front of the A70 houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Verdict
The Galaxy A70 is an excellent overall handset, but if there’s one criticism of the device it has got to be its Rs 28,990 price. While the Galaxy A70 does seem like a more-than-decent mid-range smartphone, the cost puts it closer to the high-end mid-range space. And, for a premium mid-range handset, Samsung could have opted for a better chipset on the A70, preferably the Snapdragon 710 or 712.
