Southern Railway announces changes in train services

Southern Railway on Tuesday announced changes in train services, including cancellation and regulation for the month of May to facilitate the engineering work at Madukkarai station.

Train No. 66604 Shoranur – Coimbatore Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) and Train No. 66605 Coimbatore – Shoranur MEMU will be cancelled on May 4, 11 and 13.

Train No. 56650 Kannur – Coimbatore Passenger and Train No. 56651 Coimbatore – Kannur Passenger will be partially cancelled between Shoranur and Coimbatore on May 4 and 11.

The services of Train No. 56604 Shoranur – Coimbatore Passenger will be partially cancelled between Palakkad and Coimbatore and Train No. 06710/06709 Palani – Coimbatore – Palani Passenger Special will be partially cancelled between Coimbatore and Pollachi on May 4, 11 and 13.

Apart from cancellations, Southern Railway has also announced the regulation of the services of six trains in different locations. Train No. 66605 Coimbatore – Shoranur MEMU Passenger will be regulated for 45 minutes at Podanur on May 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Train No. 56604 Shoranur – Coimbatore Passenger will be regulated for one-and-a-half hours at Palakkad Junction and 30 minutes between Palakkad Junction and Podanur on May 12.

Train No. 56650 Kannur – Coimbatore Passenger will be regulated for 40 minutes at Walayar on May 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 and will be regulated by 70 minutes at Kanjikkode on May 13.

Train No. 13351 Dhanbad – Alappuzha Express will be regulated for 30 minutes at Madukkarai on May 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 12. It will be regulated for 35 minutes at Salem Division on May 4 and 11 and will be regulated for 35 minutes at Podanur on May 8 and 13.

The Train No. 13352 Alappuzha – Dhanbad Express will be regulated en route for 60 minutes at Walayar on May 4, 11 and 13. The services of Train No. 16859 Chennai Egmore – Mangaluru Central Express will be regulated en route for 45 to 60 minutes at Podanur on May 4, 11 and 13 and will be regulated en route by 30 minutes at Madukkarai on May 12.

In a press release, railway officials said that work related to replacement of scissors cross-over and provision of electronic interlocking is under way at Madukkarai station.
