Bengaluru: Byappanahalli railway yard work to hit train services

BENGALURU: In a move that could affect thousands of passengers, South Western Railway has decided to cancel several trains due to yard-remodelling work at Byappanahalli between May 4 and 31.
The cancelled trains are: 56503/56504 Bengaluru Cantonment-Vijayawada Passenger; 6571/6572 Banaswadi–Hosur Passenger; 06577/06578 Whitefield-Banaswadi Passenger.

Four trains will be partially cancelled. 56262 KSR Bengaluru – Arakkonam passenger from May 4 will be partially cancelled between Jolarpettai –Arakkonam till further notice and train will run between KSR Bengaluru –Jolarpettai with MEMU rake. Similiarly, 56262 KSR Bengaluru – Arakkonam Passenger from May 4 will be partially cancelled between Jolarpettai –Arakkonam and train will run between KSR Bengaluru–Jolarpettai with MEMU rake.
Suhas Narayanamurthy, a rail enthusiast, said: “People using Metro and then taking the train to Whitefield and back to Byappanahalli will be affected.” Sanjeev Dyamannavar, an activist, said Bengaluru Cantonment-Vijayawada Passenger could have been terminated at KR Puram, Yelahanka or Yeshwantpur. “This is the only day train from Bengaluru to Guntakal. A large number of poor people will be affected because of the cancellation.”
