All Note 7 Pro units running on MIUI 10.2.10.0 build offer Fortnite compatibility.
Fortnite support is finally coming to the Redmi Note 7 Pro handset. After the Realme 3 Pro flaunted support for the popular battle royale, Xiaomi wasted little time in announcing that it would add support for Fortnite on its mid-range Note 7 Pro device.
After working with Qualcomm and Epic Games, the Chinese phone maker seems to have stayed true to its word. Xiaomi’s latest v10.2.10.0 update for the Redmi Note 7 Pro promises support for the Fortnite. Managing Director of Xiaomi India Manu Kumar Jain announced that support for the game has finally arrived.
The recently released Realme 3 Pro was one of the most affordable handsets to feature Fortnite support. Realme’s latest mid-range handset is a direct competitor of the Redmi Note 7 Pro, hence Xiaomi’s urgency in introducing support for the game.
At the moment, all Note 7 Pro units running on MIUI 10.2.10.0 build offer Fortnite compatibility. And, while the update is being rolled out in phases, the changelogs don’t mention anything about Fortnite support. The company has also failed to announce the graphics settings – minimum or recommended – on which the game should be played.
However, Fortnite support is not only about offering the Redmi faithfuls yet another option to indulge in; it also comes with its fair share of bragging rights. Realme CEO recently taunted Xiaomi’s Note 7 Pro for its lack of Fortnite support as compared to the newly launched Realme 3 Pro that was announced with Fortnite support out-of-the-box.
But considering Fortnite is quite a demanding game, one should be a bit sceptical about the game’s performance. Most mid-range, non-flagship SoCs tend to struggle when running this mobile battle royale even on low settings. Although the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset can handle most games pretty well, maintaining high frame rates and offering a smooth, stutter-or-lag-free gaming experience on Fortnite might not be possible without further optimisation. As things stand, expect under 30 fps on low-settings while running Fortnite on the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
