Commuters using a stopover near the intersection of Dr. Ambedkar Road, Pammal Main Road and Teacher Samuel Street, have asked the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) to ensure route numers 66,166, 266 and 66A halt there.
This stopover is known as the Pammal Municipality bus stop; now, only route numbers M52 Extension (Pozhichalur – Guduvancherry) and M52 (Pozhichalur – Hasthinapuram) stop there. These route numers ply through Pammal Main Road and head towards Poonamallee, Avadi, Iyyappanthangal and Kundrathur. Of the four route numbers mentioned above, 66 halts at the stopover occasionally.
The alternative is to board these route numbers at the Sankara Nagar stopover, though nearby, this facility will expose commuters to the danger of waiting in the carriageway. Around the Sankara Nagar stopover, the commercial establishments have usurped the walkers’ pathway and the area abutting it is used for parking vehicles. At certain points, vehicles are parked till the carriageway.
