Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Dancers gave splendid performance on stage on Tuesday at the auditorium in Ravindra Bhavan.The programme commenced with Ganesha Kautwam by seven students. Followed by Pushpanjali in which flowers are offered to the God.
In a spectacular and colourful cultural programme, 30 child artists performed pushpanjali and alarippu in their Rangarohan (first performance on stage) in the traditional Bharatnatyam style which won the hearts of the audience.
The trained dancers performed Shivamayam and Thillana which exhibited their competency in classical dance form. Their swift and well coordinated moves enthralled the audience. Natasha Kautwam was performance on Lord Shiva stuti in dance form.
The folk dance included gidda performed by Kalanjali Ladies wing, which is the folk dance of Punjab and a mix of traditional folk dances of different states of India. In vocal, the artists performed the carnatic form of classical music.
In all 108 participants performed in the programme and made the annual Kalotsavam a success.
The chief guest for event was an eminent Indian Music Maestro, Prof. Pandit Kiran Deshpande and C Ashokan, President of United Malayalee Association and Vice Chairman of All India Malayalee Association, was invited as the Guest of Honour.
Pradeep Krishnan, the President of the organisation and also the guru for the aspiring students of Kalanjali said, “Since its existence of almost 22 years, has been imparting training in Indian classical dance and music to children.
It is due to the hardwork, sincerity and devotion of the trainees the organisation is able to keep alive the Indian traditions and its art forms, thus contributing towards the promotion and spreading of Indian culture.”
As per Anu Johnson (General Secretary-Kalanjali) the organisation aims to provide an opportunity for the aspiring young children to know about the Indian classical art form and to learn proper techniques under the guidance of the able guru thus maintaining the guru-shishya parampara of Indian tradition.
Kalanjali, an organisation dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional Indian classical dance and art form, organised its 20th annual festival ‘Kalotsavam’ at Ravindra Bhavan, Bhopal.
