Techie hit by truck coming from the wrong side, dies

Ghaziabad: A 28-year-old man was crushed to death by a speeding truck near Khoda Colony around 4 am on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Shaksham Pandey, a resident of Dilshad Garden, who had been working as a software engineer with an IT company in Noida’s Sector 126 for the past two years.
Police said Pandey was heading towards his home after completing his office shift on his motorcycle when a truck coming from the wrong side hit him. “Some eye witnesses told police that the truck was speeding from the wrong side. Even though Saksham was wearing a helmet, it was damaged due to the impact and his head was crushed. He died on the spot,” said Satendra Prakash Singh, the SHO of Khoda police station.
The driver of the truck fled the spot following the accident. “A passerby informed police about the accident,” the SHO added. Pandey’s body has been sent for autopsy and the reports are awaited.
The truck has been seized and a search launched to nab the driver, who has been booked under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50).

In another accident, a 45-year-old TV mechanic died on Wednesday night after his motorbike was hit by another bike from behind in Muradnagar. The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Modinagar and TV mechanic for the past 20 years.
Police said Kumar was heading home after closing his shop when he met with the accident. Sanjeev Singh, the SHO of Modinagar police station, said, “The other biker had earphones plugged in and he was listening to songs. He lost control on his motorcycle due to the high speed and hit the victim’s motorbike and killed him.” On the basis of a complaint filed by Kumar’s family, the biker has been booked under IPC sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (causing death by negligence).
