Srinivasapuram residents irked by unauthorised parking of vehicles

A major section of the footpath is often chock-a-block with parked vehicles

Srinivasapuram Residents Welfare Association has made a representation to the Greater Chennai Traffic Police seeking appropriate measures to curb parking of vehicles on Srinivasapuram Main Road.

Unauthorised parking of vehicles create traffic chaos at the intersection of Srinivasapuram Main Road and East Coast Road in Thiruvanmiyur.

On both sides of Srinivasapuram Main Road, vehicles are parked haphazardly and they occupy a sizeable space on the stretch. This narrows the road and results in traffic congestion, especially during the rush hours.

T. Arunachalam, president, Srinivasapuram Residents Welfare Association, says, “By driving through the intersection, it is quite difficult to access Srinivasapuram First Street.”

Also, pedestrians have no space to walk as the pavements are misused as parking lots. Only a few spots on the footpath are spared.

To add to the chaos, some motorists violate the safety rules by driving at breakneck speed on the wrong side of the road.
