Ghaziabad: Three men were
arrested while they were allegedly trying to
steal a
Maruti Swift car in Loni’s Jain Colony on Wednesday around 5 am. Police said that one of the accused wanted to pay back a
loan against the purchase of a tractor which was taken by his father.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohit Chaudhary, Gautam Sharma and Anuj Tyagi, all residents of Baghpat. Two country-made pistols along with three cases of live ammunition, a knife and two motorcycles have also been recovered from their possession.
Neeraj Kumar Jadaun, superintendent of police (rural), told TOI that the robbery was planned by Gautam Sharma, who roped in his two other friends. “Gautam is currently employed at Big Bazaar in EDM mall at Anand Vihar. He planned to rob his previous employer, Pankaj Agarwal, who is a imported chocolate trader in Karawal Nagar area. Gautam was aware of Agarwal’s movement and knew that he carries Rs 3-4 lakh daily to his home. Along with his two friends Mohit and Anuj, Gautam planned to rob Agarwal. Gautam’s share in the robbery was set at 60% while the 40% of the valuable would have been split between Mohit and Anuj,” said the SP. He further said that Mohit’s father had taken a loan of Rs 3 lakh to buy a tractor from a friend which he wanted to settle down and chose a wrong way to earn quick money.
