Woman blows more than six times over the drink driving limit TWICE in one week – and both times she was out buying more booze

A woman has been convicted of high-range drink driving after she blew more than 0.300 twice in a week - and on one occasion she was on her way to buy more booze.

Cara Pullen, 46, from Summerhill, Tasmanina, fronted Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday after she was arrested at a Lavender Grove address that morning.    

Police found Pullen behind the wheel of her car, having stalled it trying to drive into her garage, with two newly purchased bottles of vodka.

Officer arrested the 46-year-old after they breath tested her and she blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.324 - more than six times the legal limit, The Mercury reported. 

The high reading came just days after the woman lost her licence for driving under the influence and recording a reading of 0.350 on Sunday. 

At the time, Pullen was driving to a bottle shop to purchase more alcohol when she was stopped by police, the Launceston Magistrates Court was told on Sunday. 

On Wednesday, police were alerted to the woman's home after a number of people complained she was driving after having lost her licence three days earlier.

When Pullen fronted court on Wednesday, she was charged with exceed 0.05 and being a disqualified driver - and she admitted the charges.   

Magistrate Simon Bowen, who called her offending 'dreadfully serious (and) dreadfully dangerous', suspended the Pullen from driving for two years.

According to DrinkWise, excessive drinking can increase your risk of developing heart disease, high blood pressure, weakening of the heart muscle and heart failure. 

University of California researchers also found a blood alcohol reading of 0.35 is the level of surgical anaesthesia, which can stop breathing, the Herald Sun reported. 

Pullen's full sentencing has been adjourned until Monday.
