The Anti-Land Grabbing Special Cell Police (ALGSC) secured a mechanic, K. Ramesh, from Tirupattur for forging land documents and selling the property.
Sources said S. Saraswathi of Ayyappan Nagar, Madipakkam in Chennai, purchased 607.5 sqft from Senthil and Sampatha in 2010.
When she came to know that someone was constructing a building on her plot, she and her husband visited the site. The occupants allegedly threatened them with dire consequences if they complained to the police. When Ms. Saraswathi checked the encumbrance certificate it was found that the land had changed many hands before it was occupied by the present owner.
She preferred a complaint with the District Police Office at Vellore, who directed the ALGSC to investigate the case. During investigation, it was found Ramesh was behind the deal. He had forged the documents. He was arrested on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody.
